John Greenspan
David Adam Realty

John Greenspan joined David Adam Realty in 2013 to lead the firm’s investment and asset management functions. Prior to David Adam Realty, John was a Managing Director at Commonfund, where he managed acquisition, asset management, and disposition activities for a diversified $500+ million portfolio of real estate investments in major markets across the US. Prior to Commonfund, John was an Investment Manager at GE Asset Management, where he actively managed a $500 million portfolio of office, retail, industrial, and multifamily assets on behalf of GE Pension Trust.

John holds a BA in American Studies from Trinity College, and a MBA from Georgetown University.  John is active in the Real Estate Finance Association of Connecticut (REFA-CT), serving as Chapter President for Fairfield County/Westchester (2-2016-17 and 2022 – Present), and is active in the Urban Land Institute (ULI). John also currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Westport/Weston Family YMCA.

Kate Perez
Baywater Properties

Kate Perez has 15 years of experience in architecture, construction, and real estate development.  In 2019 she joined Baywater Properties to manage the design and construction of the Corbin District – a 10 building mixed use development in the center of Darien. The first phase of the Corbin district will be complete in summer 2023, and the second phase in mid-2025.  Kate also managed the design and construction of 26 East Lane, two houses for adults with special needs managed by Abilis. Prior to Baywater, she was AVP of development at CIM Group overseeing the design and construction of large-scale ground-up and conversion projects in New York City and Boston.

Before joining CIM, she was an architect at Elkus Manfredi Architects in Boston and Robert A.M. Stern Architects in New York City. Kate earned her Bachelors in Architecture from the University of Notre Dame and her Masters in Architecture from Yale University. She is a registered architect in New York, a LEED accredited professional, a board member of the Real Estate Financing Association of Fairfield County, and a guest lecturer and critic at Yale School of Architecture

Henry A. Ashforth III, The Ashforth Company

Mr. Ashforth is Executive Vice President of The Ashforth Company, the diversified real estate operating company that owns, develops, and invests in assets on the East and West Coasts, and provides third party services including asset and property management, general contracting, and construction management.  He concentrates on providing strategic direction and sales for The Ashforth Company’s third-party service subsidiaries and serves on the company’s investment committee. 

Prior to his current position, Mr. Ashforth was Chairman of Ashforth Pacific, Inc., the West Coast affiliate of The Ashforth Company located in Portland, Oregon. He created Ashforth Pacific in 1995 and grew its office portfolio from 600,000 square feet to over 3 million square feet in Portland, San Francisco, and Seattle. 

Frank Caico, Spinnaker Real Estate Partners

Frank joined Spinnaker Real Estate Partners in 2017 and brings over 20 years of experience in real estate acquisition and development with a focus on multifamily and mixed-use communities. Frank is involved in various professional organizations, including Urban Land Institute (ULI) and Real Estate Finance Association (REFA) of CT. He is past chairman of the Newtown Design Advisory Board and volunteers his time on several local not-for-profit groups. Frank resides in Newtown, CT with his wife Elizabeth and their two daughters.

Ernie Desrochers, NorthMarq Capital LLC
UConn Committee

Ernie DesRochers serves as senior vice president/co-managing director in Northmarq’s New York metropolitan office. He co-manages the origination, underwriting and structuring of commercial real estate loans for correspondent and agency lending institutions in the Tri-State area. Financing types includes debt, equity and structured finance transactions across a broad array of property types including NNN leased, hotel, office, multifamily and industrial properties. Ernie has served as a member of the Northmarq Executive Committee, the Administration Committee and the Production Management Committee.

Ernie has more than 38 years of experience in the life insurance, banking and securitized real estate lending areas. He began his career in 1981 with the Travelers Insurance Company Real Estate Investment Department, holding several positions with the firm including his last as general manager of the Boston Field Office. Next, he transitioned to Legg Mason Real Estate Services (LMRES) mortgage banking division in 1988, which would later be acquired by Northmarq in 2003.

Ernie is a member of several professional associations including REFA, ULI, ICSC and the American Society of Real Estate Counselors. He holds a Real Estate Broker license in Connecticut and New York and a Real Estate Salesperson license in New Jersey.

In addition to his professional involvement, he has been active in his local community servicing as a Zoning Commissioner (and past chairman) for seven years and as board member and chairman of the Oak Hills Park Authority. He is currently a board member of the UCONN Real Estate Advisory Council.

Steven Elbaum, Robinson + Cole

Steven Elbaum chairs the firm’s Metro New York Real Estate practice and is a member of the firm’s Real Estate + Development Practice Group. He concentrates his practice on commercial real estate law. He represents corporations, developers, municipalities, and international lending institutions in acquisitions, dispositions, financing, leasing, and development.

Steven has more than 25 years of experience handling acquisitions and sales of real property and related real estate financing. He assists clients with structuring, negotiating, drafting, and closing real estate acquisitions, dispositions, and loans. He also counsels public and private clients and municipalities in economic development incentive transactions.

Steven handles office, industrial, retail and build-to-suit leases throughout the U.S. and Canada. He has represented several companies in the development and leasing of their corporate headquarters, including priceline.com, FactSet, Diaego, Noble Energy, Vineyard Vines, Design Within Reach, and Unilever’s North America headquarters. He represents several landlords in the New York area in their office and retail leasing.

Steven advises clients, including developers and municipalities, in connection with mixed use, retail, and commercial developments. He represented a public-private partnership in the redevelopment of the travel plazas along the Connecticut Turnpike and Merritt Parkway. He represented several municipalities in urban redevelopment projects, including the acquisition and redevelopment of a multi-parcel brownfield area that was converted into a 10,000-seat indoor arena and a professional baseball stadium, revitalizing that city’s urban core. He also served on a task force that implemented one of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s first brownfield programs. He currently represents a public REIT in the ground-up development of an office tower.

Stavros Filippidis, Horvath & Tremblay

Stavros is a Senior Associate at Horvath & Tremblay, a national real estate investment brokerage that specializes in the disposition of Retail, Apartment and Mixed-Use properties. The firm is headquartered in the Boston metropolitan area with over a dozen locations in the United States. Stavros operates from their Connecticut office located in Shelton and focuses on middle-market Apartment and Mixed-Use dispositions in Fairfield County.

During the first three years Stavros has been with Horvath & Tremblay, he has personally closed over $25,000,000, and underwritten over $150,000,000 worth of Apartment and Mixed-Use assets in Fairfield County’s middle market. As a lifelong resident of Norwalk, Stavros received an Associate in Arts Degree from Norwalk Community College and went on to the University of Connecticut to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Finance with a concentration in Real Estate & Urban Economics.

Stavros has been an active member of REFA since he was and undergraduate at the University of Connecticut, and in October of 2022 he became Co-Chairman of the Young Professionals committee.

Mr. Fuller is the President and founder of Fuller Development, LLC – since 2005, a leader in the investment, ownership, development, acquisition, redevelopment, construction, conversion and asset management of investment-quality real estate assets of all classes throughout the Northeast.

Mr. Fuller has over 34 years creating highly desirable sustainable developments in the communities in which he has worked. While operating Fuller Development Mr. Fuller has been a sought-after expert serving in assignments with other national firms including as Division President of Lennar Multi-family Communities, (now named Quarterra) responsible for reorganizing LMC’s development operations in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern United States including, the cities and surrounding metropolitan areas of Washington DC, New York and Boston. The National Multifamily Housing Council has recognized LMC as the nation’s seventh-largest developer of multifamily housing in 2017.

Mr. Fuller earned his Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School in 1989 and he earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Hampshire College of Engineering and Physical Sciences in 1983. Mr. Fuller has served on the Multi-Family Leadership Board of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). He serves on the Executive Committee of the Real Estate Finance Association, and was a member of the Urban Land Institute, where he has served on the Executive Committee of ULI Fairfield Westchester District Council.

David Genovese, Baywater Properties

R. David Genovese founded Baywater Properties in 2001, following a 12-year career in real estate investment banking in New York and London. Prior to founding Baywater, David served as Co-Head of Real Estate Investment Banking for Credit Suisse First Boston. Previously, David served as a Managing Director in Bankers Trust Company’s Real Estate Investment Banking Group. Through the course of his career in investment banking, David was responsible for a variety of transactions valued in excess of $15.0 billion, including mergers and acquisitions, equity offerings, bond offerings, securitized financings, bank loans, and principal investments. David is an honors graduate of Colby College and The London School of Economics and Political Science. David also received an MBA from The Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania. David is currently a member of the Board of Directors of The Human Services Council of Norwalk, the Darien Athletic Foundation and The Real Estate Finance Association of Connecticut. David has served as a member of the Board of Overseers of Colby College, and as a board member of the Darien Technology and Community Foundation, the Darien YMCA, the Darien Historical Society, and Darien Revitalization, Inc. Jacqueline Kaufman represents developers, individuals and corporate entities in real property and land use matters. She regularly appears before municipal commissions and agencies in Fairfield and New Haven counties on a wide range of applications, including zone changes, subdivisions, site plans, special permits, variances, inland wetland and coastal area permits. Jacqueline also represents individuals in residential real estate transactions and prepares zoning analyses related to potential development and property acquisition. Jacqueline also files and defends administrative appeals in the Connecticut Superior Court. Prior to joining Carmody, Jacqueline was a partner with Sandak Hennessey & Greco LLP since 2003.

Jay Marshall, Avison Young

Jay Marshall joined Avison Young in May of 2022 as a Principal – Debt & Equity – in the Fairfield Westchester office.  Prior to this he was an Executive Vice President at Goedecke & Co. responsible for origination of debt, equity and structured finance investments on behalf of clients throughout southern New England and Metro New York while following clients around the country.

During his career, Marshall has completed more than $8 billion in commercial real estate transactions, with a focus on office, hospitality, multifamily and industrial properties. Marshall has over 30 years’ experience in commercial real estate including 25 years at HFF, LP, or a predecessor firm, where he held the position of Senior Managing Director in their New York office. He began his real estate career with Harold D. Baker & Company of New York in 1988.

A selection of notable transactions includes the $613 million construction financing of Riverside Parcel J in New York City, the $400 million refinance of the Manhattan Hotel Portfolio and the land/construction loan for the 1.1 million square foot Elk Grove Technology Park in Chicago.

Marshall earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University. He is a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association and a board member of the Real Estate Finance Association.

Thomas McDevitt, Edgewood Capital Advisors

Tom McDevitt is the Founder and Managing Partner of Edgewood. Mr. McDevitt has over 25 years of experience in all aspects of real estate and real estate capital markets. Mr. McDevitt has held senior real estate capital markets positions at Salomon Brothers, Citibank, Meenan McDevitt & Co. and Société Générale. Mr. McDevitt sold Meenan, McDevitt & Co., founded in 1991, to Société Générale in 1998.

Mr. McDevitt currently serves on the Boards of Neuberger Berman’s US Trust Global Private Markets Fund, Excelsior Private Markets Funds II and III and NB Crossroads Private Markets Funds IV and V. Mr. McDevitt also served on the boards of the Jones Lang LaSalle Income Property Trust, Quadra Realty Trust, a NYSE REIT as well as Bank of America’s Excelsior Absolute Return Fund of Funds and Excelsior Buyout Investors. Additionally, Mr. McDevitt has served on a number of non-profit boards including A Better Chance of Wilton, Community Nursery School of Wilton, and the Wilton Riding Club. JoAnn McGrath, Marcus Partners

JoAnn McGrath is the Director of Leasing for Marcus Partners and has over 20 years’ experience in commercial real estate.

Prior to joining Marcus Partners, JoAnn worked for Albert D. Phelps, Inc. as the director of leasing and previously, as the vice president of leasing and marketing for Malkin Properties. Prior to Malkin, JoAnn worked with Hines in New York City.

Bob McGunnigle has a long and varied work experience. Bob started their career in 1994 as a Lieutenant in the Civil Engineering Corps of the US Navy. In 1999, they moved to GE Capital Real Estate as a Managing Director and Head of US Underwriting. In 2016, they became a Consultant for various companies, and in 2017 they joined KIMBERLITE as a Managing Director. In 2020, they began working at Capital One as a Special Assets Officer – CRE, and in 2022 they joined Encina Capital Partners, LLC as a Sr Managing Director and Chief Risk Officer.

Bob McGunnigle obtained a BS in Systems Engineering from the United States Naval Academy and an MBA in Finance and Financial Management Services from the University of Maryland – Robert H. Smith School of Business. Bob also holds certifications from the FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) for Series 63 and Series 79.

Jack Mullen, Summer Street Advisors

As the Founder and Managing Director of Summer Street Advisors, LLC (SSA), Jack Mullen draws on his expertise and extensive knowledge of the CRE industry to lead the firm’s transactional management initiatives for multi-million and multi-billion dollar projects in the United States and beyond.

Prior to the formation of Summer Street Advisors in 2010, Mr. Mullen was an executive member of GE Capital Real Estate’s Global Valuation Team and was responsible for managing transaction teams in the due diligence, valuation and underwriting sectors, supporting the acquisition of $10 billion in CRE investments.

Prior to GE, Mr. Mullen served as Vice President with Turing Capital where he was responsible for risk and transaction management for corporate and commercial real estate lending opportunities. Mr. Mullen has also held key positions with Chase Manhattan Bank, Chemical Bank and Finova Capital.

Mr. Mullen holds a BA degree in Economics and Political Science from Salve Regina University and an MBA from Fordham University. Marjan Murray, M&T Bank

Marjan Murray is Executive Vice President and Senior Group Manager of the Commercial Real Estate Finance Department at M&T Bank. She is responsible for overall management and new business development of four regional loan offices in Connecticut with a loan portfolio of $4 billion.

Marjan holds leadership roles with a broad array of community and business organizations. She currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Housing Development Fund (Past President), Real Estate Finance Association (Past President), and DSSD-Stamford Downtown Special Services District’s Board of Commissioners.

In the past, Marjan has served on the Board of Directors of NAIOP-Commercial Real Estate Development Association of Connecticut & Suburban New York (Past President), the advisory board of the University of Connecticut at Stamford School of Business Administration, Board of Directors of Fairfield 2000 Homes, and Stamford Center for the Arts.

Marjan is a recipient of the Spirit of Volunteerism Award at Peoples United Bank, as well as NAIOP’s Impact Award.  She was the honoree at March of Dimes “Fairfield County Real Estate Award” in 2019 for her impact on the community and commercial real estate.

Jeff Newman, Empire State Realty Trust

Jeffrey Newman, Senior Vice President of Empire State Realty Trust, supervises leasing and operations for the REIT’s Greater NY Metropolitan portfolio of Class-A, multi-tenanted office properties comprised of 1.875 MM square feet within five different assets located within Fairfield and Westchester Counties, as well as a fully entitled office development site located immediately adjacent to Metro Center and the Stamford Transportation Center.

Mr. Newman has thirty-seven years of commercial real estate experience, including nearly twenty-four years with Empire State Realty Trust and its predecessor legacy companies, during which he has concluded more than 7 MM square feet of office leasing transactions. Earlier in his career, Mr. Newman served as general counsel for Merritt 7 Corporate Park, as Vice President and General Counsel for Collins Enterprises (formerly Collins Development Corporation, and as an attorney in the real estate department of the Manhattan office of the national law firm Fulbright & Jaworski (formerly Reavis & McGrath.

Mr. Newman also serves on the Stamford Partnership, as well as on the March of Dimes Fairfield County Real Estate Breakfast Awards Committee. Mr. Newman is also a past president of the New York City/Westchester and Fairfield Counties Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) and a past Executive Committee member of the Westchester Chapter of Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA). He is a member of CoreNet, ULI, and REBNY, and has participated as a panelist or moderator at several real estate industry events, including programs and conferences sponsored by NAIOP, Bisnow, ULI, Real Estate Exchange, REFA, The Business Council of Westchester, RealShare, and Westchester and Fairfield Chapters of BOMA.

Deborah Olsen Robertson, TD Bank

Deborah Olsen Robertson is a Vice President, Senior Commercial Real Estate Lender for TD Bank. In her current position she is responsible for new business development in CT and Westchester County, NY.  She started her career as a Commercial Real Estate Lender in 1990, working for what is now Wells Fargo, formerly First Fidelity Bank.  During her time there (10 yrs.) she handled some of the largest developers in NJ and CT and consistently was a top producer.  After taking some time off to raise a family Deborah re-entered her banking career with TD in 2011.  Deborah left TD in 2013 to join M&T Bank and spent nearly 7 years there originating mostly large Construction loans in CT.  In 2019 Deborah re-joined TD and has been focused on permanent financing for real estate developers in CT and NY markets

Ms. Robertson has more than 22 years of experience in commercial real estate finance with expertise in all types of real estate finance transactions.  Deborah has a B.S. in Economics/Finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University.   Ms. Robertson also holds a graduate degree from NYU in Real Estate Investment Analysis.

Bob Palermo, Torrington Savings Bank

Bob recently joined Torrington Savings Bank in a Commercial Lending role but has nearly 35 years of commercial real estate lending experience at a number of banks and institutional lending businesses.  Prior to TSB, Bob spent a dozen years at Bankwell as the Director of CRE Relationship Management, helping to grow the bank from a couple hundred million dollars in assets to nearly $3 billion by the time he left. Prior to Bankwell, his experiences included originating permanent and construction loans at GE Capital, Summit Bank, and People’s Bank.

Bob has been a member of the Real Estate Finance Association for many years and resides in Newtown with his wife.

Deanna Polizzo, Whitehat Capital

Deanna Polizzo is a 30+ year veteran in the Commercial Real Estate Industry.  Prior to forming Whitehat Capital and later, Whitehat Acquisitions, she worked in various aspects of Commercial Mortgage Financing.  Her experience includes buying, selling and trading CMBS, as well as originating CMBS, HUD and Fannie Mae loans as a direct lender and a mortgage broker. 

She worked for over a decade as a mortgage banker where she was not only originating loans and single-asset bond financings for complex commercial transactions, she also utilized her skills to assist clients in operations, reporting and budgeting.  It was then she decided to enter the development side for herself. She has been an entrepreneur for over 8 years.

Ms. Polizzo holds Bachelor of Science degrees in both Accounting and Finance and a Masters in Finance.  

Robert Rahilly, Day Pitney

Robert “Bob” Rahilly assists clients, ranging from Fortune 100 companies to startup ventures, with commercial real estate matters, including the financing, acquisition, leasing and sale of real property. He represents lenders and borrowers in all aspects of commercial real estate financing transactions, including CMBS transactions and construction financing. In addition, Bob advises landlords and tenants on long term ground leases, build-to-suit leases and space leases for all asset classes, including office, industrial, retail and healthcare.

Dilman Recinos is a property manager for Regency Centers, a publicly traded REIT specializing in grocery-anchored shopping centers. Dilman is responsible for managing and overseeing assets in Westchester County, Putnam County, Rockland County and Fairfield County.

Prior to joining Regency, Dilman worked as a research analyst at REIS, subsidiary of Moody’s Analytics. Dilman graduated from Manhattan College in 2016, majoring in Communications with a concentration in advertising and a minor in marketing and art history.

Robert Tonnessen, JLL Capital Markets

Bob is a director in the New York office of JLL Capital Markets, Americas. He joined JLL as part of the HFF acquisition and has more than eight years of experience in the commercial real estate industry, having worked on transactions totaling in excess of $10 billion.  He focuses on debt and equity placement transactions primarily in the New York metropolitan area while following his clients nationwide.  Bob has a wide range of experience in the industry financing all asset classes across the country.

Bob started at HFF in February 2019 from Newmark Knight Frank, where he was a director in their capital markets group. While there, he was involved in the underwriting and execution of debt and equity transactions. Bob also previously held positions at LoanCore Capital and GE Capital Real Estate. He graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Marketing from Rochester Institute of Technology.

Brian Walsh, Eaglebridge Capital

Mr.Walsh is Vice President of EagleBridge Capital’s Fairfield, CT office where he is responsible for the origination, underwriting, and placement of debt and equity financing for all types of income-producing properties. Brian is also responsible for developing and maintaining investor and real estate owner relationships.

Prior to joining EagleBridge Capital in 2017, Brian was Assistant Vice President of Client Underwriting at Bank of America where he was responsible for underwriting in excess of $500 million of debt financing for higher-net-worth clients.

Brian is an active volunteer with the Coastal Fairfield County Habitat for Humanity and Special Olympics organizations. He holds an MBA degree from the University of Connecticut School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Keene State College.  He is an active member of the Real Estate Finance Association of Connecticut and Westchester County.

Craig Way, Managing Director for HB Nitkin, a regional commercial real estate owner and developer based in Greenwich, CT, is responsible for core portfolio leasing, acquisitions, dispositions, debt and equity financing and oversight of redevelopments and capital improvements.  His contributions to HB Nitkin include the leasing of

four million square feet of retail, medical and office properties producing rental income of over $400 million and sourcing the acquisition and management of commercial property valued at over $400 million. 

Prior to joining HB Nitkin in 1995, Craig spent 10 years at GE Capital working on new loan originations, portfolio acquisitions, structured finance, asset management and workouts.

Craig Way received a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley and is an active member of REFA and ICSC.
